SABS Test results
The NØVENT fireplace was tested by the SABS to determine if the sample complies with the requirements of SABS 1539:2003 “ Appliances operating on liquefied petroleum gas – Safety aspects”. Report number: 7222/2354427/WG002

The maximum permissible concentrations of contaminants in air which is intended for breathing are stipulated as follows by SABS019: CO:10 parts per million and CO2: 500 parts per million. This gives a ratio of CO: CO2 of 0.02 in SANS 1539:2003 (Edition 3)

The tests conducted on the NØVENT Flueless gas heater in accordance with SANS 1539:2003 ( Edition 3 ) resulted in levels of CO: CO2 ratio of 0,005 and is substantially lower than the required maximum levels indicated.

The point of measurement of the CO:CO2 gas concentrations, which is directly above the gas burners, represents the air volume that carries the highest concentration of these gases. As the gases that are the products of combustion leave the fire box they are substantially diluted by the air in the room. Thus the air in the room carries CO and CO@ concentrations that are even more diluted that that measured directly over the burners.

ODS
The NØVENT flueless gas fireplace is also equipped with an Oxygen Depletion System(ODS) – that automatically shuts off the gas supply should the oxygen levels in the room become too low.
